Shirkuh Apartment was renovated to redefine the spatial relationships within a large residence and establish clearer transitions between formal and everyday living areas. New architectural interventions—from feature walls and integrated volumes to built-in elements—act as spatial devices that organize and guide movement without disrupting the visual continuity of the home. Existing Persian rugs and classical furniture were retained as part of the apartment’s identity, creating a deliberate dialogue between the original character of the residence and its contemporary transformation.
The design language is shaped by a controlled contrast between neutral surfaces and bold chromatic elements. Textured greys, dark integrated volumes, and simple geometries are set against high-gloss red surfaces that create distinct focal points and give individual zones a stronger identity. Rather than functioning as decoration, color and material are used as architectural tools to define circulation, differentiate functions, and establish rhythm throughout the interior, allowing contemporary interventions to coexist with the more familiar and personal elements of the home.
