Khorshid House is the renovation of an 82-square-meter apartment in Tehran that functioned simultaneously as the designer’s home and personal workspace. Limited budget and compact dimensions directed the design toward the removal of unnecessary elements and the maximum use of existing potential. The idea of the home-studio emerged directly from these conditions, creating an environment capable of adapting throughout the day to different activities without establishing rigid boundaries between living, working, and social life.

In the new organization, the kitchen and living area form one continuous space, with a central island acting as a point of connection between everyday activities. A movable counter allows the layout to change according to different needs, while furniture becomes an active mechanism for spatial transformation rather than simply an object placed within the architecture. In the living area, removing the suspended ceiling revealed the full height of the existing structure, while timber cladding around the beams transformed the ceiling into one of the defining elements of the interior.

Within the compact scale of the apartment, individual elements perform multiple functions—from a continuous unit integrating bookshelves, television, and audio equipment to the entrance storage that simultaneously defines privacy and provides practical storage. Materials were selected for durability, daily use, and a sense of familiarity rather than formality. Khorshid House is ultimately an exploration of design under limited resources, where spatial quality emerges not from adding more, but from precision, adaptability, and intelligent use of what is already available.
